Axel discovers the identity of his biological mother
Before Axel goes to class, the Teysiers want to explain to him about the revelations they made the day before. Lola and Philip say that they could not have another child. At the same time, Axel’s biological mother, who could not keep him and did not want him to end up in foster care, entrusted him to Emmanuel. The latter gave him to Lola and Philip, who declared him their child, despite the illegitimacy that this represented. Axel finds it difficult to accept everything.
To distract herself, she works in the kitchen with Ethan. But Philip comes to see him to discuss. He expresses how he cares for her and Lola as if she were their biological child. However, Axel is still having trouble coming to terms with the fact that he has been lied to all his life.
To blow off some steam, Axel takes part in a gym class with other friends. During a basketball game, he can’t stand Tom’s spikes and leaves in a hurry, pushing him to the ground. Gaitan immediately kicks Axel out of his class.
Axel then confides in Jasmine that he is afraid of becoming the way he used to be when he was in conflict with his father, i.e. always angry. To survive, he started cooking. Today, he questions his place in the institute. He then asks his girlfriend to stay with him and Elliot for a while. The young girl accepts on the condition that she does not completely cut off her relationship with her parents.
Lola, on the other hand, is afraid of losing Axel because of his lies. Constance reassures him, saying he made the right choice to protect her.
Axel joins Emmanuel for work, but can’t help but ask him about his mother. Emmanuel tells him that the latter was his best friend, now dead. Her name was Lucy Clement and she was a food journalist. She knew she was doomed with her cancer, and since she had no family or partner to rely on, she promised Emmanuel she would take care of Axel. At the time, Chef and Constance had just lost Simon. Taking the baby home was very painful. While Lola and Philip really wanted it. Emmanuel says that they took risks for love. Axel asks to see a photo of his biological mother. Emmanuel gives her one, noting their physical resemblance.
At the end of the day, Axel returns home to collect his things. He informs his adoptive parents that he is willing to go through with the ordeal, but needs time to process all the information, especially about his dead mother and unknown father.
Later, Constance scolds her husband for continuing to lie to Axel, in this case about the identity of his father, which only they know. But Emmanuel doesn’t want to go back on his promise to Lucy, believing that Axel wouldn’t get over it if he found out the truth…
Vicki asserts herself
Hortense goes to see her sister in the studio. He spent the whole night working on the creation, which he presented with the 3rd year students for Louis Guinot’s class. He started with veal saltimbocca and fried polenta. But when he tastes the result, he is disappointed in himself. Vicki considers herself the least creative and least successful of the sisters. Hortense replies that it belongs entirely to the Institute, then takes her to the Economat.
There, Hortense gives him a jar of morels to remind him of the chicken he used to cook and the mushrooms he shared with his family every week. Vic remembers this and admits that he was the only one making this recipe at the time. This prompts him to recreate it for Louis’ class, twisting it with ginger and turmeric.
Later, Hortense confides in Eliot about her relationship with Victorine. Hortense realizes that if her parents paid as much attention to both of them, she wouldn’t need to be competitive with each other and Vicky wouldn’t really be such a manipulator.
At the end of Louis’ lesson, Vicky presents her creation: chicken with morels with her Jura yellow wine cream and cognac. After the tasting, the chef invites other students to do the same so that he can get different feedback. Everyone agrees that the cooking of the chicken is perfectly mastered and that its cream is both good and surprising thanks to the spices. Lewis noticed that Vic had finally given his all to the dish. He admits it has sentimental value in his eyes. Louis congratulates him and gives him a score of 13/20.
Theo discovers the identity of the secret cook
For Chef Listrac’s course, graduate students must revisit the menu of an elegant Alsatian brasserie. Anais revisits the strudel. When the chef tastes it, he notices that the texture is good, but the taste is disappointing. She suggests replacing the cinnamon with cardamom. Meanwhile, Listrak is full of praise for the new dessert Theo has put on the Double A menu, which angers Anais.
The latter stays in the kitchen after the lesson to prepare for the next session. So he meets Theo and Jude, who invest the place before serving. Listrak takes the opportunity to compliment the young chef on his cardamom dessert, then asks him to help Anais with the strudel. But when Theo offers to help, the young woman refuses him altogether and leaves the kitchen. Theo is challenged by his reaction, as is Jude, who suspects him of being a secret chef.
Later, Theo joins Anais in the studio and forces her to admit that she is the creator of the famous cardamom dessert. He understands that she did not appreciate his affiliation, but states that it was the only way to reveal his identity. Now he is going to find out the truth.
Anais then says that her lunch box was meant for Lisandro and he just continued to enjoy the game without any hesitation. Theo claims to be on the same wavelength. He also suggests that they continue to work together to challenge each other in the kitchen, which Anais accepts.
