Lucy Hale reflects on sobriety and battling alcoholism: ‘I deserve more of this life’

Lucy Hale opened up about the consequences that addiction, which she acquired at age 20, brought to her adolescence and artistic career.

Lucy Hale revealed details of struggling with alcohol addiction during the early stages of his career. The 33-year-old actress opened up during an episode of the podcast Diary of a CEOtalking about the consequences that addiction brought to his adolescence and artistic career.

hale won the hearts of the public in the 2010s, after starring in Pretty Little Liars (2010) and The Cinderella Story Once Upon A Song (2011). Currently, she remains known for the films. DUDE (2018) and The Hating Game (2021).

In the conversation, the actress said that she had been “working on being sober since I was 20”, adding that she always had a “problem” with drinking, shortly after trying alcohol for the first time at 14. Right away, hale revealed to have used alcoholic beverages to calm the mind of the problems caused by public life.

I just held on to this belief that this was the real Lucy. She also calmed my mind. My brain just wouldn’t shut down and it was exhausting. I was compulsive, when I was drinking I couldn’t remember what I did or what I said, which is scary.”

As he realized the addiction, Lucy Hale tried to moderate her alcohol consumption, but the actress was willing “to go to this crazy, dark place whenever she drank”. The actress said that Hale eventually “tried to change” for her career, her mother, her boyfriends and “vain motives”, but ultimately she had to “want to get sober” to stay healthy, and stopped drinking every now and then. I have an allergy to alcohol. I can not drink. I see it as an allergy. My brain doesn’t work the same way as someone who can just have a glass of wine. He always wants more. And then I thought, ‘I deserve more from this life. I have to try it in a different way’.

A week before her interview, the actress surprised her Instagram followers with the news that she celebrated her one-year anniversary of sobriety on Jan. 2. “This is a post about self love and the best thing I’ve ever done,” read the caption on Hale’s Instagram post.

On January 2, 2023, I celebrated one year of sobriety. While this journey has largely been kept out of the public eye, I felt tonight to let anyone who is struggling [com o alcoolismo] to know that you are not alone and that you are loved.
