It is a Paramount production, although, after suffering problems during production that inflated the budget to 200 million dollars, they sold the rights to Apple to be their international distributor.

The cast of ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ includes some old acquaintances from Martin Scorsese’s filmography. Who will try to uncover their miseries will instead be Jesse Plemons as FBI agent Tom White. Plemons already worked with Scorsese in ‘The Irishman’ with a very small role. The main cast is completed with Lily Gladstone as Mollie Burkharta woman from the Osage Nation (the Native American community at the center of the story), John Lithgow as Prosecutor Leaward and Brendan Fraser as W. S. Hamilton. Let’s remember that Fraser is one of the nominees for Best Actor at the 2023 Oscars, and perhaps next year he will have statuette opportunities again with this role.

Martin Scorsese’s new film is based on true eventscompiled by the book ‘The Flower Moon Killers: Crimes in the Osage Nation and the Birth of the FBI’ by David Grann, a New York Times bestseller published in 2017.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ follows the story of a plot that killed nearly sixty members of the Osage tribe in the United States. The story is set between 1921 and 1925, after the First World War, a time in which the structures that would give rise to the famous Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were also shaped. Of course, the story has all the ingredients to fit perfectly into Scorsese’s filmography: a story of ambition, betrayal and violence that seems foundational to American myths.

The story tells how, in the latter part of the 19th century, the Osage Indian tribe of Oklahoma was granted the right to benefit from a fair amount of oil deposits on their land. As a result, the community amassed a fortune in the tens of millions of dollars, making it one of the richest in the world. The federal government did not take kindly to this power and appointed Caucasian guardians to control the financial management of the community, sparking murderous envy among neighbors. In 1921 the violence began when a wealthy Osage woman was murdered, the first of many deaths over the next four years. FBI agent Tom White led the investigation to find the culprits.
