Chris Pine explains what happened to Harry Styles in Venice

“Indeed it looks like Harry is spitting on me.”

Chris Pine has clarified what really happened between him and Harry Styles, stating that the singer did not spit on him at the Venice International Film Festival.

Last year, a video went viral during the world premiere of the movie ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, in which Styles appeared to be leaning over and spitting on his co-star. Despite the fact that both stars quickly denied the accusations, the video was shared thousands of times, through social networks.

Now, Pine has returned to speak of the subject in an interview with esquire in which he claims that although the pictures look suspicious, there was no exchange of saliva.

Harry didn’t spit on me. Harry is very, very kind.”said the actor.

Remembering the moment when he found out about the scandal of “spit gate“, the actor explained that he was on the flight back from Venice when his publicist woke him up to show him the video.

He told me: ‘we have to prepare a message about what happened in Venice… about Harry spitting on you’, I had no idea what had happened. He showed it to me and it sure looks like Harry is spitting on me. But it was not like that”.

Pine explained the situation from his point of view, saying that they were both joking about holding press conferences with jet laggedso Styles crouched down to tell him: “They’re just words, aren’t they?

We made that joke because we all had jetlagged. We were trying to answer the questionsPine clarified.

Sometimes when you’re doing this press stuff, your brain goes into a daze and you start talking nonsense. But it’s just words, man“.

Last year, Pine’s representatives dismissed the spitting allegations as “complete invention” and of “ridiculous“.

‘Don’t worry, dear’ is available on streaming on HBO Max.
