Sylvester Stallone sometimes gives spoilers about his movies, like he did for 2015’s “Creed,” but now he’s doing so for one that will never see the light of day, “Rocky 7.”
After Sylvester Stallone began his career in adult films, he quickly rose to global fame creating the ‘Rocky’ films in the 1970s. However, he was never able to hold onto the rights to the character.
Despite writing all 6 of the boxer’s films and appearing in both of the ‘Creed’ spin-offs with Michael B. Jordan, the actor not only stepped aside for ‘Creed III’, but also his plans for Rocky have also been cancelled.
Now Sylvester Stallone, in a moment to release his frustration, took to his social networks to reveal what the seventh installment of “Rocky” would be and the plan he had for the character.
- The film also stars Sylvester Stallone ‘The Expendables 2’, which is available on ViX+ViX’s premium streaming service.
This would be ‘Rocky 7’: Sylvester Stallone reveals his original plan for the film
In a few posts (which have already been deleted by Stallone himself), the actor on February 20, 2023 shared his initial plans for ‘Rocky 7’ along with John Rivoli’s concept art.
The posts show handwritten notes where Stallone laid out his ideas for the seventh film. Additionally, in the text accompanying the post, he attacked the producers of ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’.
Stallone’s design for ‘Rocky 7’ had the character back at Adrian’s restaurant (named after his late wife) having an emotional moment remembering her and perhaps imagining what his life would have been like if still alive
The notes also show that Rocky at one point goes to a local boxing club, where he sees a 27-year-old named Chucho the Mutt fighting in the ring and recognizes the distinctive “eye of the tiger” in him.
This suggests that the protagonist, as he did with boxer Tommy from ‘Rocky V’ and with Adonis Creed, would take on a new student so that the legacy of him and his late trainer Mickey Goldmill would continue for more generations.
Sylvester Stallone slams ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’ producers
It’s not the first time that ‘Sly’ has made strong statements against the studio and producer Irwin Winkler, who is responsible for filming the films ‘Rocky’ and currently ‘Creed’.
In July 2022, he shared a photo of a snake with a knife in its mouth, writing it as a flattering portrait of producer Irwin Winkler.
In 2019, Stallone explained to Variety that he had zero rights to “Rocky” and that when he wanted to change the situation in 1984, he was turned down and told that at least he was getting paid for the movies.
In November 2022, he told The Hollywood Reporter that his inexperience in the industry and trusting the wrong people were what kept him from owning the franchise he created from the ground up.
He also commented that if it weren’t for Irwin Winkler, he would have made at least three more Rocky movies, but that as long as the producer doesn’t give him his due, he won’t return to the franchise.
