Barbara Paz will direct Willem Dafoe in the debut film

After the international success of the documentary “Babenco, someone must listen to the heart and say: I stopped”, about her husband Hector Babenco (1946-2016), the actress and director Bárbara Paz is preparing for her fiction directing debut with a feature film about loneliness in current times.

The film will star American actor Willem Dafoe, who played Babenco’s alter ego in “My Hindu Friend” (2015), the director’s latest film. Barbara acted with him on that occasion.

“In a world that seems to be increasingly sterile, new professions are emerging, such as affection professionals, hired to bring human warmth to people who live in extreme solitude. My film is about this,” said the director, in an account of the newspaper O Globo.

Before filming begins, Bárbara Paz will again play an actress in theaters next Thursday (8/3), when “A Porta ao Lado”, directed by Júlia Rezende, will debut. The long one deals with relationships, freedom, betrayals.
