Take note, James Gunn.
Played by Cillian Murphy (‘Oppenheimer’) in the ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy, one of the best superhero movies in cinema history, The Scarecrow is Dr. Jonathan Crane, ornot one of the most cunning enemies of Batman and DC Comicswhose most recognizable characteristics are using psychotropic drugs and wearing a creepy sack on his head.
More than ten years after the point and end of the Nolan trilogy, we have learned that Jamie Campbell Boweran actor we have seen in ‘Stranger Things 4’, would be interested in give life to The Scarecrow in the new version of the DC Universe that James Gunn has taken over or, perhaps, in the ‘DC Elseworlds’ of which ‘The Batman 2’ will be a part.
In a recent interview with ‘Geek House Show’was asked Campbell Bower Which comic book character would you like to bring to life on the big screen?
“Lately there has been a lot of talk about The Scarecrow…”, he pointed out.
“Doing that would be fun. Something weird and creepy like that would be great!”
Campbell Bower has the necessary experience since he plays Vecna in the fourth season of the Netflix science fiction series and, we assume, he will return in ‘Stranger Things 5’.
Did you know that Murphy wanted the role of Bruce Wayne before he was offered the role of Scarecrow?
“I don’t think he was close to landing the role of Batman. The only actor who was right for that role at the time, in my opinion, was Christian Bale, and he did absolutely great,” he told ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ two years ago.
“So, for me, it was just an experience, and then it turned into something else. It turned into that character, The Scarecrow, and it turned into a working relationship with Chris. So I remember that time very fondly, but I never thought of myself as a real option to be Bruce Wayne.”
Apart from his work at DC, the Irishman and the filmmaker have collaborated on three other occasions, including ‘Oppenheimer’, one of the most anticipated films of 2023.
