Streaming: Brazilian productions represent only 11% of content

A survey by “Panorama of the video on demand market in Brazil”, prepared by Ancine, the national film agency, showed that streaming services have few Brazilian productions compared to international ones. The study analyzed 23 platforms and highlighted that national works represent only 11% of the catalog of these services.

The only platforms that have a considerable percentage of works produced in the country are Box Brazil Play (80%), Globo channels (54.8%) and Globoplay (28.3%), Brazilian platforms.

The analysis also showed that, in all, 59 different platforms are available in Brazil, making the country the leader in streaming offerings among the 20 Latin American countries analysed. In second place is Argentina, with 53 streaming options, and third is Chile, with 50.

As for prices, Brazil is also the country that pays the lowest values. On average, streamers charge Brazilian viewers BRL 19.90.

The survey used data from IMDb to reach the conclusion. The site shows the nationality of the films.
