After the award season for your movie CODAXian Heather receives another honor.
A graduate of the AFI Women’s Directing Seminar, Heather will receive the 2022 AFI Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal. Past recipients include Darren Aronofsky, Leslie Linka Glatter, Patti Jenkins, Mimi Leder, David Lynch and Terence Malik.
He will be nominated for the upcoming AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute this year to Julie Andrews. The tribute will air on TNT on June 16.
“Siân Heder is a voice the world needs more than ever,” said Bob Gazale, President and CEO of AFI. “We are proud to honor her as a graduate of the AFI Women’s Directing Seminar and, more importantly, as a storyteller leading a culture with an inspiring alchemy of intellect and heart.
Heather wrote and directed the Apple feature CODAWhich won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2022, while Heather received the Best Adapted Screenplay Award.
