Miner Begoleã Fernandes, 26, arrested in Portugal on murder charges, sent an audio to a friend confessing to the murder of fellow Brazilian Alan Lopes, 21. The content of the audio was revealed in a report by Fantástico, from TV Globo, on this Sunday evening, 5. In the recording, Begoleã says: “I went to react and I got over it”.
“He captured a Moroccan, butchered the boy inside the butcher shop, like a pig. He showed me the video. He called me to his house so I could eat a piece of the boy’s meat. Then when he tried to take me, brother, I had a knife, I went to react and handed it to him, you know?”, confessed the Brazilian.
Without evidence, Begoleã claims he believed Alan, who worked in a butcher shop, was a cannibal and intended to eat him. The crime took place at the victim’s home in Holland, where they both lived, on the 26th.
The suspect left Amsterdam and was on his way to Brazil but was arrested while waiting for a connecting flight to Belo Horizonte at Lisbon airport. Clothes in blood, a cell phone and packaged meat were found with him. After being heard by a Portuguese judge, the Brazilian was taken to prison and is awaiting extradition to Amsterdam, which could take place in the next few days.
Strange behaviour
In an interview with Fantástico, Turkish Mustafá reported that Begoleã was always at the butcher’s shop asking for help from Alan.
“We have many Brazilian customers, people from Latin America. He was the weirdest Brazilian I’ve ever seen. He never speaks, always silent, he never laughs. You could see that something was wrong,” said the Turk.
The suspect also confessed to his parents.
On TV Globo, Begoleã’s parents reported that their son also sent them a text confessing to the crime. Family members admitted that after the accident they advised him to flee to Brazil.
The meat seized from the suspect has been sent for analysis, but the report has not yet been completed. According to Fantástico, Amsterdam police said in a statement that Begoleã is suspected in the Netherlands of manslaughter or manslaughter and is not suspected of cannibalism. The victim’s mother believes the suspect was hallucinating
