Available only in China, the Honor Magic 5 Ultimate debuts as a slightly improved version of the Pro model, with a different look and an unprecedented battery
One week later introduce the Magic 5 line to the worldTHE honor launched in China this Monday (6) the exclusive Honor Magic 5 Ultimate. As the name suggests, the debut device is the definitive model of the brand’s premium smartphone family, highlighting the even more premium design, higher memory capacity and unprecedented battery technology recently introduced by the company.

The Magic 5 Ultimate shares the same technical specifications as the Magic 5 Pro, only adding more RAM. At launch it will be available in a single configuration, which includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 16 GB of RAM (against the 12 GB of the Pro) and 512 GB of storage, without the possibility of expansion via Micro SD cards.
The 6.8-inch OLED screen features a resolution of 2848 x 1312 pixels, variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, 2160Hz PWM dimming to reduce display flicker when brightness is low, and support for HDR10+ peaking brightness of 1800 nits. Stereo sound accompanies the panel, with DTS:X Ultra enhancements.

In terms of cameras, the flagship of the family has more similarities to the Pro version: selfies are handled by a 12MP ultrawide lens with a 122° field of view, while a 3D ToF sensor enables facial biometrics 3D.
At the rear we have three 50MP sensors: a main one with a fast f/1.6 aperture, large 1/1.12″ size, multidirectional phase detection focusing (PDAF) and optical image stabilization (OIS); an ultrawide with 122° field of view and a periscope telephoto lens with PDAF, OIS, 3.5x optical and up to 100x digital zoom.

It is in the design that the device differs most from its brothers, adopting more aggressive lines (reminiscent of Porsche Design models since the brand was still part of Huawei), camera module with rounded glass and leatherette fabric finish, in black and orange. Its box is special, and it also includes an exclusive case developed by Montblanc, a German luxury brand specializing in everyday objects.
In addition, the novelty incorporates 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, UWB, USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port with 5 Gbps transfer speed, ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the display and factory Android 13, running with a new Magic OS 7.1 interface
The Chinese Honor Magic 5 has a denser battery
The battery of the Honor Magic 5 Ultimate, and also of the Chinese Honor Magic 5 Pro, is a different chapter: it is the first power cell on the market for smartphones to use a new type of anode (the negative charge pole) . The component replaces the lithium polymer used in all modern cell phones with a special alloy of silicon and carbon, developed by Honor itself.

The main advantage of this technology is the possibility of increasing the load capacity without having to change the size of the phone, or even the battery, and without affecting the weight. With this, the brand has managed to insert 5,450 mAh in the Chinese Magic 5 Ultimate and Magic 5 Pro without changing the proportions, with an increase of 350 mAh, equal to 7%, compared to the 5,100 mAh of the global Pro variant.
More interestingly, the company didn’t have to sacrifice features, thus keeping 66W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging for accessories and emergencies. Honor didn’t explain why it limited this technology. to the Chinese market, nor will it one day expand to all of its devices, but it is possible that the company has chosen to test the method in a single region before bringing it to the rest of the world.
price and availability
Available only in China, at least for now, Honor Magic 5 Ultimate is already in pre-order, with availability scheduled for March 20th. In a single configuration, the device has a suggested price of 6,699 yuan, or approximately R$ 5,025, in direct conversion and excluding taxes. Brazil is not expected to receive the device, and neither are the rest of the Magic 5 family.
