The inauguration of the new sector, this Saturday 04/03, in Magé, will allow assistance to 40 women The Recanto Feliz Rehabilitation Center opens the women’s wing with the support of Instituto Phi

This Saturday, 04/03, the female wing of the Recanto Feliz chemical addiction rehabilitation center was inaugurated, in Magé, Baixada Fluminense, metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. The realization of the dream of missionary Antonio da Silva Araujo, one of the leaders of the place, was only possible with the support of the Phi Institute.

The mission of the Centre, a non-profit philanthropic institution, is to offer, free of charge, homeless people, drug addicts and people at social risk the opportunity for social reintegration based on Christian principles and human dignity.

“Recanto Feliz has been around since 2004, created by Pastor Darvin Vasco. We have only served men. In 2019, after I was asked to hospitalize a woman, I tried to have her referred to another center, but unfortunately she did not receive adequate care, she returned to the street and was run over two days later. From that episode I decided that I would build a rehabilitation space only for the female public. I asked for support from various people and some churches, who helped us in the construction”, she explains Anthony.

According to him, he was looking for even more help that he had heard about the Phi Institute. From the first contact, everything fell into place.

“Phi readily supported us and we are very grateful. We now have 15 women living with us and the plan is to get to 40 – our maximum capacity – between the ages of 18 and 65. We also have suites that can accommodate mothers with their children, from 0 to 18 years old. We offer literacy courses, courses, occupational therapy, as well as medical assistance, psychological and spiritual accompaniment. The happiness of helping more people and reintegrating them into society is great “, explains.

Luiza Serpa, founder and executive director of Instituto Phi, says she is very happy with the opportunity to help the institute.

“Recanto Feliz will rehabilitate several women who are trying to recover from drug and alcohol addiction and do not have the economic conditions to be treated in a private clinic. This is one of Phi’s goals, to support organizations that work with people in vulnerable situations “says Luiza.
