Rihanna? Lady Gaga? The Oscar for Best Song is deserved by this crazy Indian Netflix film.
“It’s not salsa or flamenco, friend.Do you know ‘Naatu’??”
If you haven’t seen the crazy Indian movie yet ‘RRR’ on Netflixone of the best action movies of 2022, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. It’s already taking you a long time to put on his 3 hours of impossible stunt scenessoap opera dramas, slow-motion special effects that defy all laws of physics and gravity, and of course, fun and catchy dance scenes.
Like any good movie tollywood (not to be confused with Bollywood), musical numbers abound whatever the genre and tone of the film. And in this Netflix movie, between the action drama of two friends pitted against each other by fate in a life and death struggle, bare-hand fights against bengal tigers and a physical display capable of withstanding a Calvary worthy of that of Jesus Christ on the day of the crucifixion, one of the songs of the year has slipped.
‘Naatu Naatu’, danced by ‘RRR’ stars Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr., is a breath of fun air in a film full of epic and drama that oozes festivity and good vibes on all four sides. And above has its own choreographywhich is something like vigorously moving one leg very quickly in the air back and forth while the other remains fixed on the ground. As if you were propelling a scooter without leaving the site.
The Oscar 2023 nominations disappointed us when we saw that ‘RRR’ was not nominated for best special effects, but at least ‘Naatu Naatu’ did scratch a nomination in the Best Song categoryin which will face Lady Gaga (‘Top Gun: Maverick’) and Rihanna (‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’), among others.
And fans of this Telugu epic are doubly in luck, as original singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will perform the song composed by MM Keeravaani and written by Chandrabose on stage of the Oscars gala live so that its chorus reaches all corners of the world.
The 95th Academy Awards will be held at the night of March 12 to 13 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Until then, you can practice the dance steps.
