Scarlett Johansson couldn’t stand the Black Widow costume
Among the actresses who couldn’t stand their superhero costumes is Scarlett Johansson (who you can watch in ‘Scoop’ for free on ViX), as she has repeatedly confessed how uncomfortable Black Widow’s wardrobe was.
In an interview with “Nightline” in 2012, he said that his suit was so hot that he had hallucinations while filming his action scenes. He even mentioned that at the end of the day he had to have his socks wrung out because of how sweaty they were.
The actress did manage to change some aspects of her wardrobe for her 2021 solo film (like stopping wearing heels), but they weren’t enough to ensure her stay in the MCU.
Paul Bettany hated Vision’s makeup
Although Paul Bettany spoke to Entertainment Weekly in April 2022 about the possibility of returning to the MCU as Vision, he initially stated that he would not be willing to play the character again.
Among other things, this is due to the great suffering Bettany had to endure every time he was billed as the Vision.
In an interview with Digital Spy in 2021, he confessed that removing the superhero makeup was very difficult. Also, his skin took a lot of damage from having to work in character six days a week.
They even had to improvise a small “mobile sauna” on the set, where the actor spent half an hour trying to remove the cakes of makeup.
Jenifer Lawrence couldn’t pee in her Mystique outfit
Jennifer Lawrence (who didn’t take a bath to land the role that catapulted her to fame) has played Mystique in the “X-Men” films since 2011, leaving the role in 2019 after her character was killed off at the hands of Jean Gray in ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire actress (which you can watch on ViX+, ViX’s premium streaming service) has shared in various interviews how uncomfortable it was to play Mystique.
For example, in an interview with “Business Insider” in 2014, she confessed that it initially took her 8 hours to put on her makeup, since her blue look was made of body paint.
But the paint irritated her skin, so she later had to wear a bodysuit to play Raven. However, it was not the best solution, because in an interview on The Graham Norton Show in 2016, he confessed that this wardrobe prevented him from urinating.
Tom Holland’s discomfort with the Spider-Man suit
After starring in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, Tom Holland confirmed to ‘People’ in 2021 that this would be the last film in the franchise he would be involved in.
Although he made this decision mainly because he wants to make way for new youngsters in this role and to change Spider-Man, his Spider-Man wardrobe could also make an impact.
And that’s because things have come to light that the actor couldn’t do while wearing the tight Spider-Man suit, which completely covers his body.
These ranged from not being able to scratch an itch, not being able to use his cell phone, resorting to a plastic tube through his eyes to drink water, or being forced to wear a thong to meet wardrobe needs.
And you, did you know that all these actors were forced to quit because of the inconvenience of their superhero costumes? Which case surprised you the most? Tell us in the comments.
