James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 introduces a new Marvel villain: the Master of Evolution. And it was British-Nigerian actor Chukwudi Iwuji, already seen in the TV series Peacemaker, who was chosen to play him on the big screen.
First appeared in November 1966 in the comic mighty Thor #134, Herbert Windham, aka the Master of Evolution, is an anti-hero who evolved his own brain to reach its full potential.
This being of unlimited intellectual capacity created a counter-Earth populated by “New Humans”, half-human, half-animal hybrids like Rocket Raccoon. He also gave the Soul Stone to Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter in the third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Equipped with an exoskeleton and regenerative armor, the Master of Evolution is purple and red in the comics.

The new head of DC Studios posted a photo of the comedian on the set of the Marvel movie with the comment:I can’t wait to get to know this guy.”
An Instagram user left a long comment under James Gunn’s photo:
“Shit… another white one turned black. Why couldn’t they just leave it blank or I don’t know…choose another minority? How about an Asian or a Latino (how many Latinos and Asians in the MCU? 5 total?) or Indian or something… because they don’t and they don’t intend to, it “woke” them.

Next time, the main character (hero or villain) will be trans, gay, or non-binary (which they are not in the comics). It is sad and shameful. They choose based on race and sexual orientation, not based on acting and established.”
“Stop your racist assumptions”
James Gunn then responded to defend his choice: “I chose the best actor and the best person for the role, period. I don’t care what ethnicity Chukwudi Iwuji is, so stop making your racist assumptions about why he was chosen. (By the way, he plays a guy who is almost always purple)“.
The final film in the trilogy and Gunn’s last project in the Marvel stable, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 3 and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Chukwudi Iwuji and Will Poulter.
