Wall St opens higher ahead of US jobs report

Wall Street’s major indexes opened higher on Thursday, as a stronger-than-expected rise in weekly jobless claims eased jitters about rate hikes ahead of a key job creation report that could determine the trajectory of the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.24% to 32,876.83 points shortly after the open. The S&P 500 rose 0.17% to 3,998.66 points, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.02% to 11,578.31 points.
