For deputy André Fufuca, corporate balance sheet fraud has the potential to damage the entire economy

Brasilia – The leader of PP TO Room, Andre Fufuca (MA), filed this Thursday 9, the request for the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry (CPI) to investigate alleged accounting frauds of R$ 20 billion in the American shops. The decision on the opening of the investigation now rests with the Speaker of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL).

Fufuca yesterday exceeded the 171 signatures required for the CPI request, filed with the support of 216 parliamentarians. In addition to the PP, other Centrão parties strongly supported the request, such as the Republicans and PL. The leader of the PT in the House, José Guimarães (PT-CE), is also among those who signed the document.

“The episode with the Americans therefore undermines the credibility of the entire Brazilian stock market and it is in the public interest to ensure that investors can be absolutely sure that the popular economy will never be harmed by any type of fraud, error or cover-up of holes in the budgets, without the government investigating and disclosing everything that happens in cases like this,” says another part of the question.

The PP leader points to the growth in the number of individual investors in the country in recent years and says the government must ensure that cases like the Americans are investigated and held accountable. According to him, the CPI will also serve to propose measures that guarantee more security to the capital market.
