Sharon Stone lost custody of her son for a scene in ‘Basic Instinct’: ‘It was 16 seconds’

There are actresses in Hollywood who regret their nude scenes, such as the case of Sharon Stone in “Basic Instinct”, because her role even cost her criticism from the judge and the loss of custody of her son.

In 1992, Sharon Stone became a “sex symbol” thanks to her performance as Katherine Trammell in the psychological thriller “Basic Instinct” by director Paul Verhoeven.

The scene where Catherine is interrogated for the murder of her partner and crosses her legs in front of the police, to show that she is not wearing underwear, became one of the most romantic moments of the cinema and also caused a lot of discussion.

Sharon Stone Loses Custody of Son Over ‘Basic Instinct’ Scene

Now actress Sharon Stone (who you can see “The Mule” free on ViX) revealed to Bruce Bozzi on the “Table for Two” podcast on March 8, 2023, that the film and its nude scene were legally used against him.

Stone said that after her divorce from Phil Bronstein in 2004, a judge ruled that she would not have custody of their son Roan and even made comments to the son about the type of movies he was in.

“I lost custody of my son. When the judge asked my son, my little boy, “Do you know your mother makes sex movies?” It’s this kind of abuse from the system, they thought what kind of mother I was, because I made this film.”

Sharon Stone, who at 64 posed topless, also commented that the interrogation scene in ‘Basic Instinct’ only lasts a few seconds and very little is seen of her, but even so she has been criticized a lot for it.

“People are walking around naked on regular TV now and they saw me for maybe 16 seconds of possible nudity and I lost custody of my son.”

Even Stone said the judge’s decision literally broke his heart, as the pressure and emotional toll was so great that he developed heart problems and had to go to hospital.

“It broke my heart. It literally broke my heart.”

Sharon Stone and Phil Bronstein married in 1998, six years after she appeared in “Basic Instinct,” and adopted son Roan in 2000 because she couldn’t have babies.

After a 2004 divorce and a judge’s ruling that she lost custody of Roan, Sharon Stone was finally able to gain visitation rights with her son, who is now 22 and close to her.
