Michael Scott’s gesture in ‘The Office’ that Steve Carell couldn’t stop doing after the series

Having participated in seven seasons of the American version of ‘The Office’, Steve Carell has admitted that he kept a very particular habit, after his departure from the series.

In a reunion with her colleagues Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, for her podcast office ladies, the actor shared his struggle to stop breaking the fourth wall in his latest works.

Kinsey commented that it’s something she has struggled with as well, sharing: “In fact, one director said to me, ‘Angela, you just looked right under the lens‘”.

Carell later added that he had opted not to see the British version of the sitcom, in which Ricky Gervais played David Brent.

The writer-producer of ‘The Office’ (USA), Michael Schur, recently spoke about the American adaptation, admitting that at first he thought it was a “terrible idea”.

“I met Greg Daniels in the spring when he was about to adapt ‘The Office,'” he said. “I was a huge fan of the British ‘The Office.’ And like most people, I thought that adapting it for American television was a terrible idea.”
