Will we see Gollum again in Middle-earth? Andy Serkis talks about the future of ‘LOTR’

    The protagonist of ‘The Lord of the Rings’, Andy Serkis, has declared that he is willing to resume his role as Gollum and return to Middle-earth.

    Since Peter Jackson’s original trilogy, JRR Tolkien’s world has been expanded in a number of ways: a trio of ‘The Hobbit’ prequels, the Prime Video series (‘The Rings of Power’) and the upcoming anime film, ‘The Rohirrim War’.

    Recently, it was announced that Several films based on ‘The Lord of the Rings’ are being prepared, and Serkis has said that he “would be delighted” to participate in them if the opportunity arose.

    Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens are a second family with whom I have made many films.“Commented the ‘Batman’ actor on the podcast, Post Credit from BroBible.

    Let me tell you, they are the best people I could ever work with. I think there are other potential Middle-earth projects that could come up. If they are doing them, I, of course, I would be happy with the opportunity to rekindle that relationship… Middle-earth has never abandoned me.”

    These remarks come shortly after Serkis revealed how he had initially been mocked for his portrayal of Gollum (through the use of motion capture).

    The most veteran actors told me: ‘Not even dead would I make a movie like that. It is the end of our profession.‘ I literally heard someone say that to me,” Serkis said.

    “There were a lot of jokes about it. You know, jokes in Saturday night Livepeople dressed up with attached ping pong balls… It was ridiculous – and rightly so.
