‘You’ has once again demonstrated its great ability to invent crazy, unexpected and, without a doubt, addictive script twists.
The second part of the fourth season of ‘You’ has arrived stomping. The Netflix series has shownone more time, his great ability to invent crazy, unexpected and, without a doubt, addictive script twists. Despite this being a second half of the season, it looks like we’re looking at a whole new batch. What links us to Part I of ‘You 4’, are the common characters in the plot. However, all The structure that we imagined that this season’s outcome could follow has been turned upside down since the beginning of the sixth chapter.
Why do we say this? Don’t worry, Next we will dedicate ourselves to explaining the most important details of the end of season 4 of ‘You’. But, in case you need to refresh your memory of what happened previously, be sure to read the explained ending of the first part of ‘You 4’, so everything will be clearer.
If, on the other hand, you’ve ended up here without knowing how and you still haven’t seen the fourth batch of ‘You’, run away! Below you will find GREAT SPOILERS from the series.
Who is actually the murderer “comerricos”? What happened to Marianne? What changes have the main characters experienced, from one part to another?
‘You 4. Part II’: The end, explained
What the hell happened? Not seriously. There’s a lot to talk about… Many of the doubts that had been generated by the trailer for this second batch of episodes have been resolved. Like, for example, the mystery about Love Quinn and if she would still be alive after all… The teaser has played with us and we have fallen flat.
In the first place, the most remarkable thing about this end of the season comes when we discover that, Despite making us believe that Joe/Jonathan had changed and separated from his murderous instincts to become a detective, it was all the result of a mental dissociationcaused by the shock of having kidnapped Marianne.
Joe is still as deadly as ever. In fact, although we have been led to believe for 5 episodes that the real criminal of the season is Rhys, this is really just an imaginary version that Joe has created to represent his dark side.. In this way, both he and we believe that he has become a “healthy” version of himself, and that his bloodlust is in the past.
However, the author of all the crimes that we have seen throughout the season is none other than Jonathan Moore (Joe Goldberg). He himself disassociated himself at the time of the acts so as not to feel responsible for the deaths. In a sequence full of flashbackswe find out that all the conversations between Rhys and Joe have been fictional. In the same way, the secret messaging app that deleted messages after receiving them does not exist either (or so we can intuit).
Nothing of what we have seen before is true. Or, at least, not entirely.
‘You 4’: What about Marianne?
Another of the main elements of this second batch of episodes is Marianne, Joe’s love interest, at the end of ‘You’ season 3. As we saw in previous episodes, Marianne and Joe were on the streets of London, but he was letting her go.
However, the reality is different. In a fit of obsession (classic Joe), our protagonist kidnaps her and locks her inside her usual transparent cell. (It already seemed strange to us that it had not appeared until now…)
Unable to bear his dark side, Joe develops a split personality. Because of this, the everyday version of him will be unaware of the horrors he wreaks.
In the end, thanks to Nadia’s help (character that we will talk about later, because it has also been vital for this closing), Marianne devises a plan to escape from captivity.
between the two, replace some painkillers that Joe had left him in the cell for a mixture of ketamine, which will cause his heart rate to drop. So, Fthey will eat the death of the young woman and, once Joe has left her on a bench in the street (to get rid of the “corpse”), Nadia will come to his rescue with the antidote. Thus, Marianne returns to Paris and is reunited with her daughter. With Joe thinking she’s dead, she’s finally out of danger.
‘You 4’: What role does Nadia play now?
Nadia, Joe’s brilliant college student, has been one of the most changed characters between the two parties. In the first, he served as a sort of “Watson” for Joe’s Sherlock in his search for the “Comerricos“.
Now, his ingenuity will turn against the protagonist. The young woman begins to suspect that something is wrong. After sneaking into her teacher’s house and finding a mysterious key inside a book (coincidentally, a copy of ‘Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’), she arrives at the place where Marianne is locked up.
Thus, Nadia discovers the truth about Joe Goldberg and, with the help of her classmate, Edward, she begins to look for evidence to incriminate him for his crimes.
After freeing Marianne, he returns to Joe’s house to look for new evidence incriminating him. Rummaging through her objects, he finds the “fetish” box, in which Joe keeps memorabilia from his previous victims. The young woman takes photos of him and leaves the place.
However, as any good ‘You’ fan will know, Joe never loses. He finds Nadia in the alley behind her house. There, he takes the phone from her and deletes the evidence.
Moments later, Nadia sees a murdered Edward by her side. Joe hands him the murder weapon and threatens him. If she tells anything, he will use all of her resources to destroy her. Nadia’s end is truly bitter. After spending the whole season trying to do good, she ends up imprisoned, paying for the murder of her boyfriend and unable to tell the truth.
‘You 4’: Who are the Lockwoods?
On the other hand, Kate originates another of the great plots that are unfolding in the last chapters. Do we know Kate? The cold and reserved gallery owner that we were introduced to in the first half of the season seems to have a lot to hide.
We had already discovered that she was the daughter of a great businessman. However, The demons from her past have finally come to light, and with them has come her powerful father, Tom Lockwood.
The business magnate forces Joe to assassinate Rhys, his greatest opponent. When he does (trying to get the stalker off of him), is when he discovers the whole truth about his hallucinations.
Despite believing that Kate’s father is her ally, we soon discover that this is not the case. Tom tries to frame Joe for his murder.. Besides, Kate confesses to him all the horrors she has committed in the past because of her father. You know what comes next, right?
Joe has a new target. Determined to free himself (and his girlfriend) from the force that oppresses them, he sneaks into the hangar where Tom is working and murders him. of course, too finds the perfect excuse to get rid of responsibility, and blames one of the bodyguards of the millionaire
Thus, Kate inherits her father’s company and becomes one of the most powerful women in the world.
Although the thing does not end here. Joe, feeling that the only way to rid himself of his darkness is to get off the map, jumps off a bridge over the river.. Despite his attempt, some rescuers pick him up.
Inspired by this “second chance”, he bonds with Kate, who manages to whitewash his image and give him his name back.
In the end, Joe gets rid of all the deaths of the season. In addition to the last ones already explained, he accuses Phoebe’s stalker who appears in the sixth episode of all the previous crimes. A fleeting character, but one that serves perfectly to tie up the loose ends that remained in the first part.
Joe and Kate are lauded by the press as a couple of philanthropists. Marianne is with her daughter in Paris and Nadia behind bars. Phoebe manages to get out of the environment of ruin of the elite and moves to Thailand to teach children.
Will there be a fifth season of ‘You’ on Netflix? Who knows… It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but this ending could make us imagine many things.
Rhys’s reflection in the glass, when Joe looks out the window, makes us see that our protagonist has accepted and integrated his dark side. Will there be new crimes in the offing? Now, Kate’s power protects him from any consequences… Or, at least, it seems so.
