Public career advocates find offer ‘frustrating’
Brasilia – In a new meeting of the Permanent National Negotiating Council, the government has offered to federal servants a wage adjustment this year of 8.4% from April. Initially, the Unit had proposed an increase of 7.8% from March, considering the budgetary reserve of R$ 11.2 billion for this purpose. The government also maintained the R$ 200 increase in food stamps, which means the recomposition of inflation from February 2016 to February this year.
Since at least 2019 with no salary restructuring, servers found the proposition “frustrating”.
“The government has practically kept the 7.8% of March, updating in April, with what stopped being paid this month,” said the president of the Permanent National Forum of Typical State Careers (Fonacate), Rudinei Marques.
Servers had asked for a 13.5% increase over April. According to Marques, Fonacate will bring together the affiliates to define a common position after the meeting.
According to the president of the National Union of Central Bank Employees (Sinal), Fábio Faiad, the government has in fact downgraded the proposal, given that it tends to spend less with 8.4% since April than with 7.8% from March. Furthermore, according to Faiad, the government has informed that it will send the proposal through a bill, rather than an interim measure. Faiad said the trend is for civil servants to come up with a new counter-proposal, yet to be defined.
