A few hours after being presented with a great celebration by the tricolor public at the Maracanã, left-back Marcelo work has already begun on CT Carlos Castilho. This Saturday morning, the new Fluminense player was at the training center of the Laranjeiras team and had his first contact with all his teammates.
Marcelo arrived at the Fluminense training center before 9:00 (Brasilia time) and underwent medical evaluations, standard procedure for new hires. The 34-year-old full-back also spoke to Paulo Angioni, executive director of Flu.
– I am home. Thank God, I arrived – said Marcelo in CT.
Marcelo doesn’t have a premiere date yet. The player is already regularized in Cariocão and can play in the semifinals of the tournament. The last match of the athlete, however, dates back to January 11, again with Olympiacos. At a press conference following his presentation, the outsider spoke on the matter.
– There is no way of knowing when I will have my debut. But we will try to do it as soon as possible. I already have all the questions to ask, questions about medical tests and trainings. Just check with the trainers and the coach to see the best time to be available and make my debut,” he said.
Still without Marcelo, Fluminense is back on the field this Sunday. Tricolore will face Volta Redonda, at 18:00 (Brasilia time), at the Estádio Raulino de Oliveira. The match is valid for the first leg of the semifinals of the Carioca Championship.
