Gendarmes Manon Ferré-Duvall and Riad Lekir, played by Elodie Varlet (A More Beautiful Life) and Sammy Gharb (Tomorrow Belongs), will soon return to France 3 for a new investigation?
This Saturday, March 11, the TV movie Secret of the Cave, directed by Christel Reynal (Clem, The Art of Crime), takes us to the village of Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, where a local figure is found murdered. by young kayakers on the banks of the Ardèche River.
The murder weapon is a carved stone dating to more than 40,000 years ago, a period consistent with the presence of men in the region’s rock cave. Gendarmerie Captain Riyad Lekir, who is in charge of the investigation, is to team up with his colleague, Manon Ferret-Duval, in the research department.
The beginning of an explosive collaboration as a painful past binds them together. In December 1994, at the same time as the discovery of this cave, Kamel, Riyad’s older brother, was indeed arrested, accused of murdering the parents of Manon (who was then 8 years old). But after seeing his alibi fall apart, Kamel turned himself in to the police.
Thirty years later, Riyad and Manon will have to put aside this difficult past in order to carry out this investigation that will finally establish the connection between the two cases. And in doing so bring back the ghosts of the past.
Will The Secret of the Cave get a sequel?
At the end of the TV movie, Manon manages to discover the truth about her parents’ murder. But he’s also getting close to Riyad, leaving the door open for a very likely romance between The Secret of the Cave’s two characters, who initially hated each other.
So, could the very cute chemistry that exists between Elodie Varlet and Sammy Gharbi lead France 3 and the producer to order a sequel to this police station?
“A continuation is quite possible, depending on the ending. We clearly imagine a love story between them, but they are not obliged to immediately settle down as a couple. They can continue to sniff each other, look for each other, during the second investigation. “replied Sammy Gharbi, who is therefore ready to step into Riyad Lekir’s shoes.
“After the broadcast of the TV movie in Belgium, we are often asked to continue, why not”Continues the actor, who told us the difference between Riyad and his other cop character in Tomorrow Belongs to Us. “It means the couple have done well, so that’s great. But it hasn’t been discussed with the channel yet. I think they’re waiting for auditions.”.
As you understand, no projects are planned at the moment, but if it succeeds at France 3 tonight, it is not out of the question to think that The Secret of the Cave could spawn other TV movies featuring the characters. Wait for Varlet and Sam is poor.
And while waiting for more to be revealed, thriller fans will be able to devour the many police TV films that France 3 still has in stock, including Meurtres à Pont-Aven, starring Alexandre Brasseur, Astrid Rossi and Naima Rodrique. It will be offered on Saturday 18 March at 21:10.
