Camisa 11 do Verdão spoke of differences in style compared to the former midfielder
On Saturday evening (11), Palmeiras beat São Bernardo 1-0 at Allianz Parque and qualified for the semifinal of the Paulista Championship. In the mixed zone after the game, Bruno Tabata, starter and author of a great performance, spoke of confidence and made comparisons with Gustavo Scarpa, a former Verdão player currently in England.
The Palmeiras number 11 played his best game since joining the club, being the highlight of Verdão, especially in the first half. Tabata was new to coach Abel Ferreira’s starting squad, who decided to leave Endrick and Giovani on the bench.
– Very happy with the opportunity and with the correspondence. The most important thing is that Palmeiras is advanced. And my week was really good. I heard it, I heard she was very good. The player, when he’s not in sequence, which is difficult because he loses pace and confidence, with the fans who don’t have so much confidence because they see less play, it’s difficult to enter. I always remained confident and ready to do my best when I had the opportunity,” the player said.
– It’s difficult when you bring in a player to replace someone who was still in the club, like Scarpa. Last year I arrived, and Palmeiras were winning everything, not losing, and I came from football six years later. But I know my worth. I’ve played for big clubs, played in the big leagues and won titles. So I know my qualities and potential, I knew I just had to train and bide my time.
Bruno Tabata insisted that he has different characteristics from Scarpa and that the Portuguese coach recognizes this difference, trusting his own style of play.
– I’m a midfielder who plays on the flanks, I can combine midfield well with the wings and sometimes I can be a bit sharp. I’ve done this my entire career. However Abel knows where he can count on me, he knows my characteristics. He shoe, as I said, he’s gone and had other characteristics even if we played in the same role. Tabata is Tabata. I, in my career, have never been a turning point. I think we have players with these characteristics – concluded the number 11 of Verdão.
Now Palmeiras is preparing to face the state’s fourth worst season in the semifinals. The match, which will also be played at the Allianz Parque in a single match, is scheduled for the weekend of 18 and 19 March, with dates and times yet to be defined by the CBF.
