‘The Flight Attendant’: who is Cassie’s double?

Someone is impersonating the protagonist played by Kaley Cuoco, and these are the main suspects.

WARNING: spoilers for ‘The Flight Attendant’ (until 2×05) below

The second season of ‘The Flight Attendant’ is revolving around a mystery still unsolved: who is the double of Cassie Bowden? Someone is impersonating the protagonist played by Kaley Cuoco disguised in a blonde wig and a replica of her tattoo on her back. And not only that: using her missing belongings and her bank accounts, the mysterious impersonator is making Cassie the prime suspect in a series of murders and crimes. The identity of this person is still unknown, but there are some candidates.

The new episodes of the HBO Max series showed us that Cassie has almost completely changed her life: She’s moved from New York to Los Angeles, she’s been sober for a year, she religiously attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, she’s in a steady relationship with a handsome photographer, she’s still working as an airline stewardess, and she’s also doing spy work for the CIA… Cassie seems to have it all under control, until she doesn’t anymore. And the person who lights the fuse is precisely that double who seems to be traveling around the world leaving a trail of corpses in her wake and who seems determined to ruin the life of the protagonist. She gets it: in the fifth episode of the season, Cassie is unable to deal with this spiral of problems and anxieties and relapses into drinking. In addition, he confesses that it is a lie that he has been sober for a year, that it has been more like six months. Return to the starting box. Or, as her mentor in AA says of her, she may have never gotten out of that box, nor will she until she’s completely honest with herself.

But of course, We meet Cassie, and what she’s going to want to do first of all is find the person who’s impersonating her.. With the help of her friend Ani (Zosia Mamet) and her hacker boyfriend Max (Deniz Akdeniz), the protagonist will try to put the pieces together. To help her, here we have several suspects who could confirm what we have already been smelling: that the person in charge has been right under her nose all this time.

    Grace St James

One of the new signings of the second season of ‘The Flight Attendant’ is Mae Martin, who plays flight attendant Grace St. James. She quickly became the first suspect: a new character who appears out of nowhere in the same job as Cassie, with a somewhat mysterious personality, significant financial resources, a past as a soldier in the army and at the same time wanting to get closer to her. partner. Physically she is not that far from Cassie and, although she has short hair, she could perfectly wear a wig. She was on the flight from Berlin (where we see the doppelganger for the first time), and was close to the car explosion and other incidents.

It’s so obvious that it most likely isn’t. Cassie comes to that conclusion after verifying that she does not have a tattoo on her back or anything suspicious in her luxurious house. Even so, the fact that the protagonist has already discarded her puts her in a perfect place to surprise us in the event that she is. Bottom line: Let’s not dismiss Grace St. James so quickly.

    Dot Karlson

dot karlson in season 2 of the flight attendant

Of course, each passing episode seems more and more suspicious: Dot Karlson, played by Cheryl Hines, is the head of the CIA that Cassie meets in her meetings with Benjamin (Mo McRae) after becoming a civilian collaborator with the agency. At first she seems very supportive of Cassie, defending her abilities as a spy and informer, and betting on her continuing in the institution despite the mistakes made in the Berlin incident. Now, in hindsight, what kind of CIA chief would be completely okay with putting Cassie in the line of fire? Is it one of the eccentricities of the HBO Max series or a huge red flag What tells us that he has hidden intentions?

Let’s think about it. Whoever is impersonating the stewardess must have the highest training in international espionage, access to all of Cassie’s moves, and the power not to be hunted.. Dot Karlson could fit this profile. In addition, Cassie discovered some very suspicious documents in her CIA profile, including a psychological evaluation that she had never done that basically indicated that she was unbalanced. Could Dot Karlson be plotting to set up Cassie? That would explain her insistence that she continue collaborating with the agency, her strange looks, that she ignored her when she confessed that there was someone impersonating her… Suspicious.

    Gabrielle Diaz

    the flight attendant

It seems that Gabrielle Diaz, the criminal played by Callie Hernandez, is the least likely suspect at this point of being Cassie’s double.. She could have been her perfect candidate: we met her precisely in Berlin, where she, along with her husband, Esteban (JJ Soria), ran into Cassie in the hotel hall and copied the data from her mobile phone. . At the time we might think that they could be involved in the murders or the problems that Cassie is experiencing, but in recent episodes we discover that they are not.

In reality, they wanted to contact Cassie to find her home in Los Angeles, where they briefly kidnapped Ani and Max to tell them what they wanted to know: Megan’s location, which is hidden because the North Korean government has put a hefty price on her head. No, Gabrielle has nothing to do with Cassie’s doppelganger, she was just passing by looking for the reward. The series does a good job of making her a suspect: we see her dying her hair blonde, she has a complexion similar to Cassie’s… Still, we can almost 100% cross her off her list.

    Cassie’s mother

sharon stone in the second season of the flight attendant

After five episodes, the great signing of the second season of ‘The Flight Attendant’ still shows no signs of life: Sharon Stone joined the cast to play Lisa Bowden, Cassie’s mother.. From what is known so far about her character, the two have a complicated relationship and they lost contact a long time ago, mainly due to Cassie’s alcoholism, but now that the woman has hit rock bottom, perhaps it is time to resume the relationship. But… what if it was precisely her mother who is supplanting her? And for what reason?

The truth is that this would be the perfect narrative twist for the season. After being misled by other candidates, from Grace to Dot, the real culprit turns out to be Cassie’s mother. It remains to be seen if this theory can become a reality.
