The former Palmeiras midfielder has lost millions in investments brokered by a club of which the striker is a partner
The two companies involved in the alleged scam against players Gustavo Scarpa, of Nottingham Forest, and Mayke, of Palmeiras, are not authorized to invest in cryptocurrencies. The two athletes have put millions into a scheme spearheaded by former teammate Willian Bigode and say they have been unable to get the money back. The information was first published by “G1”.
The company WLJC Consultoria e Gestão Empresarial, of which Willian Bigode is a partner, brokered the players’ investment in Xland Holding. The two companies do not have authorizations in the systems of the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), the Association of Financial Institutions and Capital Markets (Anbima) and the Central Bank, as verified by “G1” and confirmed by THROW AWAY!.
The two players’ investment in the cryptocurrency scheme amounts to R$10 million (R$6 million for Scarpa and R$4 million for Mayke). The attacking midfielder and full-back have sued Xland and WLJC Consultoria to try to recoup their investment. Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton also reportedly lost money in the deal, according to “TV Globo”, but declined to comment on the case.
The broadcaster also showed messages exchanged between Scarpa and Willian. In the dialogue, the attacking midfielder says he is sad and that the amount invested represents “almost all of his assets”. Next, the player informs the former teammate that he has been advised to provide a police report and name the attacker’s company.
