Belgian director Olivier van Hufstadt, who came to the public in 2006 thanks to his caustic comedy Dikkenek, radically changes the register for his second feature.
Released in 2008, Go Fast is inspired by real events and, as its title suggests, depicts the method used by drug traffickers to bring their wares in cars at very high speeds, in this case from southern Spain to France. A PJ officer, the main character, Marek, will have to infiltrate one of the underground gangs…
Set a year before The Prophet , Go Fast thus explores a form of crime that has yet to be explored in cinema. The film is written by Jean-Marc Souvira, a former divisional commissioner who wants to show the reality from the point of view of the police on the ground. With the same concern for authenticity, the team uses real RAID police officers who interpret their role on screen.
In addition to its documentary strength, Go Fast also boasts chase scenes coordinated by Jean-Claude Laniers, who already worked on Tell No One – one of the best French action films of the 2000s. Thanks to it, there are cars traveling in the opposite direction at a speed of 100 km/h and shots from helicopters.
An efficient and edgy thriller, this French-made Fast & Furious features Roschdy Zem at its best.
Hurry Olivier van Hofstadt with Roshdi Zem, Olivier Gourmand, Jean-Michel Fette…
