The winners of the 75th BAFTA were revealed last night, with the ceremony still open to the public. A year after Chloe Zhao, it’s Jane Campion’s turn to earn the crown for “Dog Power”. Also featured is the comedy CODA.
After an extraordinary ceremony in 2021, without pomp and audience, BAFTA 2022 was able to be held in the traditional version, with a red carpet, an audience and named guests.
The 75th edition of the 7th English Art High Mass, held this Sunday, March 13, saw the coronation of Jane Campion, who won two of the most prestigious sculptures (Best Picture and Best Production) for the film “Dog Power” (available). On Netflix). Quantitatively, Dennis Villeneuve Dune, the favorite with the most nominations, is awarded the most prizes, including the best photo and the best music.
However, there is no prize for the three French women (Audrey Divan, Julia Ducurnau and Celine Skiama), nor the chief cameraman Bruno Delbonelli or the composer Alexandre Desplat. But the remake of the French comedy, CODA (adapted from La Famille Bélier), co-produced by France, came as a surprise with two awards.
For reference, in 2021 Chloe Zhao Nomadland left 4 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress.
Frenchman Florian Zeller’s The Father won 2 awards: Best Actor for Anthony Hopkins and Best Adaptation, while Emerald Fennel’s feature film, Promising Young Woman, won Sculptures for Best British Film and Best Original Screenplay.
