Palmeiras has collected more than eight tons of donations for the victims of the rains on the north coast of São Paulo, a region affected just under a month ago, which has left 65 dead, as well as hundreds of homeless.

Through the institutional accountability program “Por um Futuro mais Verde”, Palestra collected donations in matches of the men’s team against Red Bull Bragantino and Ferroviária, for Paulistão, and also the women’s team against Real Ariquemes, for the Brazilian championship.

In general, non-perishable foodstuffs, mineral water, milk, hygiene and cleaning products, blankets, clothes and shoes were donated. Furthermore, in collaboration with the coach Abel Ferreira, the profit from the personalized shirts by the coach of Palmeir was converted into 449 basic baskets and hundreds of underwear which were also delivered.

GREENER FUTURE

The “Por Um Futuro Mais Verde” program aims to consolidate Palmeiras as a responsible institution, capable of generating a positive impact for the football industry and society through the following pillars: economic, social and environmental.

Earlier this year, Verdão, in collaboration with Central Única das Favelas, donated more than three tons of food to the Yanomami Indigenous Reserve, a community suffering from a serious humanitarian crisis in the state of Roraima. The collection took place during the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, in which Palestra was crowned champion for the second consecutive year.
