Creed 3 continues its journey to the top! Despite the arrival of successful news, the boxing movie worn by Michael B. Jordan remains at the box office for the week with a total of 1,609,334 entries. Within two weeks, it almost reached the final score of Creed 1 (1,642,064 tickets sold) and Creed 2 (1,733,124 admissions). Therefore, the third opus is already guaranteed to exceed two films.
Still on the franchise side, what’s the score for Scream 6? The horror movie is back in theaters this week and has attracted 464,821 fans of the saga! It is the 4th best opening in the franchise, ahead of Scream 1 (1997) and behind Scream 4 (2011).
On the third step, François Ozon signs a very good score with his new film Mon Crime. This investigative comedy has a total of 427,391 viewers. It’s the third-best opening of the filmmaker’s career, behind his two comedies: 8 Women (1,008,915 first-week admissions in 2002) and Potiche (875,112 first-week admissions in 2010).
Five more French films find a place in the weekly top 10: Alibi.com 2 confirms its success. During its 5th week of operation, it accumulated 263,517 additional admissions, or a total of 3,568,017 admissions. It is very close to Alibi.com’s score of 1 (3,603,775 records), which is the greatest achievement of the Philippe Lachaux group to date.
The comedy Les Petites Victoires, starring Michel Blanc and Julia Piaton, is in 5th place and shows very good stability: the film recorded 195,693 more admissions, not far from the 500,000 admissions total in its second week (446,053 admissions). The Syndicalist is 7th (+ 119,585 admissions), Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire is 9th (+ 95,037 admissions) and Les Choses simples is 10th (+ 73,574 admissions).
Also worth noting is Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans (6th), which continues its fine history with French audiences, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, 8th, which collects 100,000 additional admissions.
Just outside the top 10, Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale” got off to a shy start with 65,064. Brendan Fraser’s Oscar win last week underscores the effect of curiosity.
Still out of the rankings, let’s celebrate the new record set by Avatar: The Way of the Water. Released in France exactly 3 months ago, the James Cameron film has just passed the 14 million attendance mark (14,115,794 attendees). The film now ranks 13th at the French box office of all time.
