Tina, from “BBB 23”, goes almost blind when using a beauty product: “Burned Corneas”

Former BBB Tina Calamba has revealed that she nearly lost her eyesight after using a styling pomade. In a video posted to Instagram, the ‘BBB 23’ participant revealed that the corneas of both eyes were burned and she confirmed that she was undergoing treatment to recover.

“I need to share a situation that is of public utility. It is a warning to society, to the women who follow me, especially black women, who change their hair all the time,” she began.

“Three days ago I had a very terrible experience. I am still resting, I had an accident with a shaping ointment. I used this product and it caused me some collateral damage. I had to go to the hospital, I had my corneas burnt, a situation I’ve seen other women suffer damage after use.”

According to Tina, she used the product to do a quick hairstyle, as she needed to go to an event. The whole time she was there, she had no problems, but when he got to her house, she noticed something was wrong.

At first, he felt lightheaded, but he believed it would be caused by fatigue from the new routine. “I have used this product in some situations, I had events, a schedule to meet. I didn’t realize it, I thought it might be tiredness. My routine is no longer the same. From the day I recorded “Altas Horas”, I I already felt very tired”.

Noticing that she was getting worse, as if she had dust in her eyes, she decided to go to the doctor: “It was a very terrible night, I woke up at dawn and thank God I wasn’t alone. I decided to call an Uber to go to hospital, but 5 minutes later I couldn’t see anything. It was very complicated. Being early in the morning, there weren’t many people and I had a fast service,” he says.

Tina says the doctors identified the problem very efficiently, since several other similar cases have been diagnosed recently, mainly in the last few weeks of Carnival.

After being medicated, the model needed to rest.

Currently, she continues to take care with eye drops and having to wear dark eyes at home. Additionally, he stayed away from light-emitting devices such as cell phones and televisions.

Next week, Tina will go back to the eye doctor to check on the next steps of the treatment.

“I wanted to warn you directly. Even though I had a minor burn, I am very concerned about women using these products. So be careful with the products and stay away from these shaping ointments as there have already been cases recurring,” he advises.

It is important to underline that, due to the increase in the number of serious cases related to the use of this type of product, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has banned the sale of all styling and braiding pomades in the country. Therefore, no batch can be marketed anymore and must not be used by beauty professionals.
