Netflix: This comedy with Christian Clavier and Joystar is a platform hit!

Released in theaters in July 2019, the comedy Ibiza is a hit on Netflix today! Why not take a little walk on the platform for a good night’s rest with Christian Klavier, Matilda Seiner and Joystar?

The feature film Ibiza tells the story of Philip and Carol (Christian Clavier and Matilda Seiner), both divorced, who have just met. Philip, very much in love, is willing to do anything to pocket Carol’s two teenagers. He offers his eldest son a deal: if he is a bachelor, he chooses their vacation spot. And it will be Ibiza! But for Philippe, who is more accustomed to a quiet vacation in Baie de Somme, this is a real shock.

Originally, director Arnaud Lemoureux set out to write a comedy about a family traveling to Auvergne to retrieve the body of their deceased aunt in a refrigerated truck. He then met Mathieu and Thomas Verhehe, his future producers, who at the time acted as directors for a script they had developed.

“We had a good contact, Thomas called me to discuss the collaboration and I told him about my Auvergne idea.”– says Arno Lemore. “He found the principle interesting, but was a little less enthusiastic about the idea of a corpse.”

“So I reworked my idea, keeping the concept of a family comedy, and suggested Ibiza, where I’ve already been on holiday several times.”he continues. “That’s when I managed to sort it out and it was interesting for a somewhat classic family going to this ‘island of all perils’…”

In addition to Christian Clavier and Mathilde Seiner, Ibiza, which attracted 630,000 viewers in French cinemas, also stars Joystar, who plays nightclub owner Frankie on screen. The casting idea was signed by Christian Clavier!

“For the role of Frank, we were looking for the truth and after considering a few names, Christian showed us that in people’s imaginations, Ibiza was a party, a night, a bit sultry, and that JoeyStarr might be an interesting host.”Arno Lemorie recalls. “I would never have thought of putting the two together, but in the end, it’s totally believable!”
