The company holds an hour-long event, but doesn’t do live demonstrations of its artificial intelligence; robot will not be released to the public for now
Since the Open AI released yours Chat GPT, several companies were quick to demonstrate that they also have products of this type. OR Baidu he is the last to enter this list. The Chinese research giant has given a public (and pre-recorded) demonstration of the Erniyour robot that can write, summarize, search for information, create images and much more.
The presentation took place this Thursday (16), lasted an hour and had Robin Li, the company’s CEO, as master of ceremonies.
As we said, Ernie only appeared in pre-recorded videos, not live demos. For now, he won’t be released to the public.
Ernie isn’t alone: When Google announced Bard, he only appeared in little GIFs and videos, and still managed to get it wrong.
Aside from that, the videos showed Ernie summarizing the sci-fi book The three-body problem and then suggesting a continuation of the story.
The robot was able to answer who the actors in the film adaptation of the work were, compare heights and tell who was the bigger between them.
Furthermore, he created an image based on requests, just like Dall-E and Midjourney do. The AI can also give audio responses, using different Chinese dialects.
Baidu says companies are interested

OR Engadget he comments that, precisely because of his attention, he does not answer certain questions on foreign policy. He reminds that Google is banned in the country.
Robin Li says the robot has capabilities comparable to OpenAI’s GPT-4, announced last Tuesday (14) and which already powers Microsoft’s Bing Chat.
However, the Chinese company admits that its robot is not ready. According to Robin Li, the demonstration was only done due to high demand.
Nonetheless, it ensures that 650 companies are interested in using Ernie, which could be used in areas such as autonomous driving, research and smart devices.
As with Google, investors were less than thrilled with Baidu’s demonstration. According to apshares of the company fell 10% shortly after the event, ending the day down 6.4%.
