The program “El Chavo del 8” is one of the most loved in Latin America, but despite its 280 episodes, it has many secrets in its history, such as the real name of “La Chilindrina” or the profession of Señor Barriga.
Señor Barriga (played by Edgar Vivar) was the landlord and landlord of the neighborhood, so he regularly appeared to collect the rent, although he had to hunt down characters like Don Ramón to get them to pay him.
In “El Chavo del 8” little is known about the lives or pasts of the characters, one example being that there is a sad reason why Quico was wearing a sailor suit, but the program barely mentions it.
In the case of Mr. Bariga, there is little information about his life outside the neighborhood. Most of the fans know that he owns the place and has a son that everyone calls Ñoño, but few know his profession and his real job.

“El Chavo del 8”, what was Mr. Barriga’s real job?
Information about Señor Barriga’s life is scarce, but “El Chavo del 8” premiered more than 50 years ago, and in every chapter that appears, you can find and gather facts that reveal a lot about what he’s up to.
Among the revelations made are that Edgar Vivar confessed that Chavo really hit Mr. Barriga, that his real name is Zenón Barriga y Pesado, and that Ñoño’s mother is a businesswoman living in Spain.
But to discover the profession and the work that Mr. Barriga did outside the neighborhood and when he was not collecting rent, you have to see another production by Roberto Goméz Bolaños.
In the program “Chespirito” Mr. Barriga has some appearances and in one of the sketches of “Los Chifladitos” the character goes out to collect the rent from Chaparrón Bonaparte (Chespirito) and Lucas Tañeda (Rubén Aguirre).
In the episode that premiered in 1981 and was titled “House run”, when Chaparrón Bonaparte and Lucas Tañeda cannot pay the 72 months of rent they owe, Mr. Barriga evicts them.
While some porters remove the debtors’ furniture, Chaparrón talks to Señor Barriga, and in their conversation the owner reveals that he is actually a lawyer by profession.
Although Mr. Barriga owns the neighborhood, the Fonda de Doña Florinda, and other properties, he himself mentions in a few chapters that he had humble origins and studied hard, possibly a law degree.
As all of Chespirito’s programs are connected to each other, the fact that in “Los Chifladitos” he reveals his job and what he does besides collecting rent, it also applies to his character in “El Chavo del 8.”
