“A fifth season would have dragged on.”
Alan Ruck (‘Succession’), agrees with the moment chosen for the end of the dramatic comedy.
One of the most popular HBO series, along with ‘The House of the Dragon’, ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘The White Lotus’, The award-winning and ambitious story of the Roy family is about to end forever with its fourth season, which premieres later this month.
Ruck, who plays the Roys’ eldest son and aspiring politician, Connor, recently confessed to Empire:”The truth is that we all knew [el inminente final de la serie] since June“.
“I think the time is right to end it, as far as the fight to see who is going to take command of this empire. A fifth season would have dragged on, and if it ended in bad taste, it would have been a disgrace.“, he added.
Although the protagonist did not reveal any secret about the twists that await us, Ruck did advance that “not everything is resolved” for his character: “Like life itself.”
These statements come after the showrunnerJesse Armstrong, opened up about the decision to end “Succession” after four seasons.
“There is a promise in the title of ‘Succession’ itself. I have never thought that this could last forever. The end has always been on my mind“, he commented to The New Yorker last month.
“I met with some of my fellow writers before I started writing season four, around November or December of 2021, and I said, ‘Look, I think this should be the end. What do you guys think?’
“We played with several scenarios: We could do a couple of short seasons, or two more seasons. We could go on for years and turn the show into something very different, into a funnier, light-hearted show, where there would be good weeks and bad weeks…” recalls Armstrong.
“Or we could do something a little more solid and complete and finish strong. That was always my preference.”
All seasons of ‘Succession’ are available on streaming on HBO Max.
