Gladiator 2: A Batman-Staffed Sequel Villain?

Nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin, Irish comedian Barry Keoghan will join the cast of Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel.

In this way, the actor will be able to meet his compatriot Paul Mescal, who was also nominated for an Oscar this year for Best Actor for his role in Aftersun.

Barry Keoghan is set to play Emperor Geta, the main antagonist of the feature film, which follows the journey of Lucius, son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen in Gladiator ) and nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). Lucius is very impressed with Maximus’ (Russell Crowe) course and must follow in his footsteps.

Directed by Ridley Scott, already at the helm of the first opus, and written by David Scarpa, Gladiator 2 is scheduled to hit our theaters in November 2024.

Barry Keoghan will reprise his role as the Joker in Matt Reeves’ Batman sequel. The actor appeared in Arkham Prison at the end of the first feature film.

The 30-year-old actor is known for his roles in Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and Chloe Zhao’s The Eternals.
