Lance Reddick, known for playing the character of Charon in all four films of the series John Wickas well as being part of the series regular cast Fringe, I hear it AND Boschamong other roles in his long career, he passed away this Friday, March 17, at the age of 60.
According to Deadline, the actor’s rep at Portrait PR confirmed the news, saying he died of natural causes, without providing any other details.
Just this week the actor gave several interviews while promoting his upcoming film, John Wick 4: Baba Yagawith Keanu Reeves.
Reddick began his film career in the mid 90’s, guest starring in series such as The nanny AND New York undercover. By the end of the decade, it had exploded onto the big screen with films like Big hopes AND New York under siegebefore returning to the Emmy-winning HBO miniseries in 2000, The cornerbased on the book by David Simon.
That same year, he joined the cast of another HBO drama, ounce, appearing in a dozen episodes. At the time, Riddick also participated Law and order: SVU.
But perhaps his most famous role came later. Reddick was chosen to live Cedric Daniels The cableOR I hear itanother HBO drama that Simon wrote and also created.
While not a huge success at the time, the series has become one of the most acclaimed and influential of the 21st century. Appearing in all 60 episodes, Reddick’s character is a growing force in the Baltimore Police Department and is promoted from lieutenant to major to commissioner over its five seasons.
During its passage in The cableReddick has also participated in arcs in crime dramas Law and order AND CS: Miami and was invited to Law and order: criminal intent. It also reappeared in lost and has appeared in episodes of It’s always sunny in Philadelphia AND numbers before landing his other role for which he would be famous.
Reddick was cast in the first season of Fringe, on Fox, as Phillip Broyles, a Homeland Security special agent who commanded the Fringe division investigating unexplained phenomena and terrorism. He appeared in most of the 100 episodes of the series created by JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, which aired from 2008 to 2013.
He was recently chosen to play the character of Zeus, in the Disney+ series which will adapt the work of Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympianswhich is expected to premiere in late 2023 or early 2024.
Reddick is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.
