According to Uol, Caio de Bendetto was 30 years old and an architect and urban planner with a USP degree and belonging to the same firm. Wellington had a biology degree and worked as a programmer. According to his Facebook profile, he was doing a PhD in animal biology at Unicamp. João was the pilot and used to travel between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
According to CNN, the Robinson R44 II model aircraft had regular status with the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and performed air taxis. She had left Guarujá, on the south coast of São Paulo, towards the capital, taking the 3 passengers with her. According to firefighters, the helicopter hit a coconut tree before crashing.
