This Monday (20), the government relaunched the Mais Médicos program for Brazil. The ceremony will take place at 11, at Palazzo Planalto, in the presence of the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Minister of Health, Nisia Trindade.

According to g1, the program intends to increase the number of professionals present throughout the country. Thus, it would go from 13,000 to 28,000.

Last Saturday (18), the prime minister of the Secretariat for Communication of the Presidency of the Republic, Paul Pimentahe wrote on Twitter that in addition to expanding the number of health workers, the program will improve the Unified Health System (SUS), with investments in the construction and renovation of base units.
In the same publication, Pimenta recalled that the program created by the then president Dilma Rousseff, “became responsible for 100% of primary care in 1,039 municipalities, hired more than 18,000 professionals and benefited 63 million Brazilians”.
“The dismantling of the program, in recent years, shows the neglect suffered by the SUS”, added. In the new format, the expectation is that incentives will be announced for professionals to stay in the municipalities.
