The comedy “A Guerra do Hamburger” (Good Burger, 1997) will have a sequel. Developed for streaming platform Paramount+, the film will bring back the original cast of Kenan Thompson (“Saturday Night Live”) and Kel Mitchell (“Game Shakers”), who at the time had their own paid series for the children channel Nickelodeon , called “Kenan and Kel: two really crazy kids”.
“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born on ‘The Burger War’!” said Kenan Thompson in an interview on ‘The Tonight Show’ Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“Being a part of something that so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud, and now going back to where it all began and working on the sequel is surreal,” he added.
Directed by Brian Robbins (“A Thousand Words”), “The Hamburger War” showed the confusions of duo Dexter (Kennan) and Ed (Kel) as they worked at a fast food restaurant called Good Burger.
“Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s a blessing to continue to do so after all these years,” added Kel Mitchell. “It’s great to go back and continue the Dex and Ed and Good Burger stories, both for the people who grew up watching and for their kids.”
The continuation will show the two still working at the restaurant, but now dealing with a new set of employees.
The screenplay was written by Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (screenwriters of the original) and directed by Phil Traill (“Maluca Paixão”).
“Good Burger 2” begins filming in the middle of the year, but there is no premiere date yet.
