Actor Ciarán Hinds (Mance Rayder in “Game of Thrones”) has joined the cast of the second season of the series “The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power”, developed by Amazon Prime Video.
In addition to Hinds, the new season will also include reinforcements from Rory Kinnear (“Men: Faces of Fear”) and Tanya Moodie (“Empire of Light”). Character details have not been released.
Created by JD Payne and Patrick McKay (writers of “Star Trek Beyond”), “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is set thousands of years before the adventure of “The Fellowship of the Ring”, the first volume of famous trilogy by British writer JRR Tolkien.
Season 1 concluded by showing the forging of three of the iconic Rings of Power that christen the attraction, as well as introducing the true identity of the Dark Lord Sauron. The attraction was a huge hit with audiences, with more than 100 million viewers, according to Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform.
The second season has already started filming in the UK, but does not yet have a premiere date.
Ciarán Hinds will soon be seen in the western “In the land of saints and sinners”, with Liam Neeson (“Assassin Without a Trace”), to be released June 22.
