“Our movie is really good.”
The actress of ‘Shazam!: The Fury of the Gods’, Rachel Zegler, has a very clear message for the haters from the latest DC movie.
Zegler plays Anthea/Anne, the daughter of Atlas, in the David F. Sandberg film. Along with her sisters, Kalypso and Hespera, Anthea battles superhero Zachary Levi and his foster brothers in an epic matchup.
Released on March 17, the sequel to ‘Shazam!’ has received mixed reviews, with a 52% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The public score of 88% at the time of writing shows a different reality and has offered Zegler a springboard to respond to detractors.
“Our movie is really good, but I liked making it even more and the people I met 🙂 Go see it! give it a chance“, he tweeted on March 19, adding some backstage photos with his co-stars, Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren and Jack Dylan Grazer.
“For something we have an 85% score from the public,” Zegler continued. “There are people out there who are being… unreasonably cruel, and it’s unnecessary“.
“And I know, I know, ‘if you can’t take criticism…’ and all that nonsense, and it’s true. But our movie is really, really good. Nowadays, it’s fashionable to hate for fun. Alright. let’s be good“.
Zegler, who recently went viral for her candid response about what drew her to the role of Anthea (“I needed a job“), will soon be in the highly anticipated prequel to ‘The Hunger Games’, ‘Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’.
Based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, author of ‘The Hunger Games’, the film will be released in November of this year.
‘Shazam! The Fury of the Gods’ is available in cinemas.
