The Italian club has confirmed that it will deliver a sketch of the project
The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, informed this Thursday (23) that Milan wants to continue with the construction project of its new stadium in the La Maura area, where a racecourse is currently located.
The Milanese delegation, led by Gerry Cardinale, met the Milanese and Lombard authorities to discuss the state of the new arena. The owner of the current Serie A champion has given signs of wanting to go ahead with the idea of building the sports complex in La Maura.
“They have confirmed their willingness to proceed with La Maura. It is what I asked, first of all, to confirm that they do not intend to go ahead with the San Siro project. As for La Maura, I reiterated that I acknowledge the interest, but what missing is a project” Sala said.
The politician, however, stated that Milan has undertaken to create a draft project to start the formal process of the team’s interest in building in that area. Subsequently, Sala is expected to begin checks with municipal authorities to green light the project.
Milan decided to check the feasibility of La Maura due to several delays in starting the construction of a new stadium that would replace San Siro. The delay, caused by countless bureaucracies and disagreements between the authorities, convinced the Rossoneri to abandon the project with Inter and go it alone.
In addition to the modern arena, Milan also intends to transfer its headquarters, which is currently located at Portello, to La Maura.
