DMAE reported that a water leak has occurred in a network of large diameter pipes, in the bus corridor of Avenida Assis Brasil, near Shopping Lindóia
The Municipal Department of Water and Sewage (Dmae) communicated that, this Thursday morning (23), work began to repair a water leak in a large diameter (500 mm) concrete water mains asbestos, in the bus corridor from Avenida Assis Brasil, near Shopping Lindóia, in the North Zone of Porto Alegre.
The works could cause shortages in the following neighborhoods: Sarandi, Santa Rosa de Lima, Costa e Silva, Parque Santa Fé, Jardim Itú, Passo das Pedras, Jardim Leopoldina, Rubem Berta, Morro Santana and Mário Quintana. The forecast is that supplies will return in the early hours of Friday 24, and it may take longer in areas further away from the grid.
The public transport and traffic company (EPTC) is on site to guide the traffic. The agents block the Assis Brasil corridor, between Bogotá and Costa Rica streets, in the direction of the district-center.
During longer stops, the water can change color and taste due to the entrainment of microparticles that are not harmful to health and remain on the internal walls of the pipeline. If the normal appearance of the water takes a long time to return, the customer must request the washing of the mains or of the house extension by calling 156, option 2.
