The Flash is not for minors because there’s nudity and lots of violence: this is how the DC universe is being rebooted

“The Flash” will not only have a new Latina Supergirl and the return of Michael Keaton as Batman 31 years later, the film with Ezra Miller will also be a new beginning for the DC Cinematic Universe.

Although the next adventure of Barry Allen / The Flash was one of the films with a lot of behind-the-scenes drama due to the arrests and erratic behavior of its protagonist Ezra Miller, good things have been said about its plot.

Even the Hollywood Reporter reported on March 17 that Tom Cruise met with the CEO of Warner Bros., saw the film ahead of its June 16 release, and liked it so much that he called director Andy Muschietti to congratulate him.

Now with the release ever closer, Warner Bros. confirmed that “The Flash,” which is still part of the so-called Snyderverse, will rank slightly higher than most other superhero movies.

“The Flash” will not be for minors as it will have nudity and lots of violence

With altered timelines, “The Flash” will show familiar events but with a new twist, such as Zod (Michael Shannon) arriving on Earth, but without metahumans to defend the planet.

Packed with action scenes, explosive sequences, plenty of adrenaline and even some nudity, the film joins other PG-13-rated DC flicks like 2016’s “Suicide Squad.”

Confirmed in March by Flim Ratings, “The Flash” is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America, meaning it contains violence and action, strong or explicit language and some nudity.

Films with this classification are not recommended for children under 13 years of age, but in case they enter the cinema, parents are the ones who must take responsibility and accompany them.

It’s not the first time that DC movies have high ratings, “Birds of Prey” (2020), “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” (2021) and “The Suicide Squad” (2021) were R (not suitable for minors). 17 years old).

“The Flash”: how will Ezra Miller’s film reboot the DC universe?

From what is known about the plot, what is seen in the trailers and what James Gunn mentions, “The Flash” starts as part of the continuity of the Snyderverse (where the character appeared in “Justice League”), but will end in a different universe .

This is possible because the story of “The Flash” is based on the comic book “Flashpoint”, which in the printed pages of DC served to reboot its continuity.

As in the film, in the comic Barry goes back in time to save his mother, but his actions have a butterfly effect – even the slightest change is reflected heavily in the future.

When Barry returns to the present, he finds a completely different reality, for example: Bruce Wayne died as a child, so his father Thomas became Batman, and his mother Martha became a version of the Joker.

This is also seen in the film, where Barry travels back in time to find himself in a gift where the Michael Keaton version of Batman has been active for 31 years since he appeared in ‘Batman Returns’ (1992).

At the end of the comic book story, Barry has to come to terms with the idea that his mother’s death is something that has to happen, so he goes back in time again to stop his other self from saving her.

Although everything seems to be fixed, the time manipulation still has consequences and the reality is different from what he knew. As the film will follow a similar story, so will the DC universe reboot in theaters.

What is not yet known is whether Ezra Miller will continue to play Barry Allen in the new sequel, since the movies and series announced by James Gunn make no mention of the Flash.
