Ever since Universal and Blumhouse announced their intentions to reboot ‘The Exorcist’, William Friedkin’s 1973 horror film classic, we’ve all been asking ourselves the same question: Will Linda Blair reprise her role as “the girl from ‘The Exorcist'”? Or, rather, will they dare to spend $400 million on the franchise rights without bringing back their most iconic character?

Confirmation has been a long time coming, but finally the insider Jeff Sneider (Above the Line) has dropped the bombshell. Regan will make an appearance in the film, reuniting 50 years later with her “mother” Ellen Burstynwho will return as Chris McNeil.

Shortly after the announcement of the new horror film, Linda Blair said she had not been contacted: “I wish the best to everyone involved and appreciate the loyalty and passion the fans have for ‘The Exorcist’ and my character.” However The actress has been seen on the set of a shoot that has already endedand although Blumhouse tries to throw the balls off by stating that “Linda Blair served as an adviser”, it does not slip.

After horrifying everyone as the possessed girl from ‘The Exorcist’, the 13-year-old actress who won the Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar saw how her career did not take off and ended up, like many other Hollywood prodigies, falling into various addictions. The last years of her filmography are made up of small nostalgic cameos, and it seems that this will be the case with the reboot of ‘The Exorcist’, since she has only been seen for a couple of days on the set.

The release date of the new ‘The Exorcist’ movie will be October 13, 2023coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Friedkin’s classic.
