President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) postponed his trip to China to Sunday (26) after being diagnosed with mild pneumonia. The trip was scheduled for the early afternoon of this Saturday (25th).




According to the Chief Minister of the Social Communications Secretariat, Paul PimentaPresident Lula is at the Alvorada Palace after carrying out tests at the Sírio Libanês hospital on Thursday night (23), in São Paulo, where the medical team diagnosed the disease as pneumonia.

Hours earlier, the president was in Rio de Janeiro, where he attended an event at the Itaguaí Naval Complex, toured the National Museum’s reconstruction work, and attended an event at the Municipal Theater.

“The president has mild pneumonia and, as a result, will postpone the start of his trip to China until Sunday,” Pimenta wrote.

China is Brazil’s largest trading partner and the president’s trip aims to defend the relationships already built with Brazil’s largest trading partner and ultimately expand the range of Brazilian products on sale in the Asian giant

The president’s agenda for this Friday (24), which included a meeting with ministers at Palazzo Planalto and a meeting with the government’s parliamentary base to discuss the issue of approving provisional measures in Congress, has also been postponed. Lula is expected to stay at the Alvorada Palace for the rest of the day.
