Series Mania 2023: Under Control, De Grace and Les Randonneuses award-winning

Ninety-five thousand participants, series and talent from all over the world… The 2023 edition of the Series Mania Festival ended on March 24th, after a week of meetings and screenings.

Fans of the small screen were able to exchange a few words with American stars Brian Cox and Marsha Cross during the respective master classes. Or discover in preview series such as Cédric Klapisch’s Salade Grecque, which follows his film trilogy, as well as Transatlantique, an ambitious international production by Netflix.

This year’s awards show once again the diversity of the series presented at the festival. As for the international competition, it was the jury consisting of Lisa Joy (Westworld), Emmanuelle Beart and Lou Doillon who selected four winners from nine series presented at the world or international premiere.

And it’s the Iranian comedy The Actor that does well with two out-of-work actors hired to play improbable roles in real life. We should also mention French actress Margot Bansillon’s prize for De Grâce, which will be discovered at Arte this fall.

In the comedy category, it’s the dystopian series Rictus with Fred Testo that leaves with honors. This OCS production takes us into a world where laughter is forbidden… a pitch that seems to have gone down well with the judges. A special mention also goes to funny woman Gemma Arterton, who we talked about in this article.
