Iron Man in Hitchcock! Robert Downey Jr. in the remake of the masterpiece of the master of suspense

A remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 thriller Cold Sweat is in the works at Paramount Pictures. As reported by Variety and ComingSoon, it will be written by Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight, who also recently revealed that he is writing a secret Star Wars movie. Stephen Knight is known for having signed the Millennium Scripts: What Won’t Kill Me (2018) or even Spencer (2021).

The remake will be co-produced by Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey through Gundy Downey’s production banner, meaning the Marvel actor could star in it.

Released in 1958, Cold Sweats was directed by a master of suspense himself. The film tells the story of a former detective who suffers from acrophobia, or fear of heights. After a chase across the rooftops of San Francisco that ends in the death of his partner, he is traumatized and guilt-ridden and decides to resign from the police force. When a former classmate asks him to accompany his wife, he reluctantly agrees. He has no idea the hair-raising depths this will lead him to. Many exciting twists follow.

The feature film, starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, Barbara Bell Geddes, Tom Helmore and Henry Jones, is a 7th art mainstay, often cited as one of the 100 greatest films of all time. It is also considered “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress.
